Blog
As many customers will know I was unwell during 2011 and was therefore not active on the export market. I am now more or less back to full strength, having recovered from the brain tumour that laid me low at the end of 2010.
Our business has gone from strength to strength on the Continent and, thanks to the internet, new customers are enquiring about our ranges all the time.
Because Harrisons is such a well-known name, being nearly 150 years old, many people who are interested in tailoring and fine cloths come onto our website. I also get many enquiries from tailors in out of the way places asking me to send them patterns and bunches.
James and Mark Dunsford have been working hard to create ranges that are both distinctive and of high quality. Our customers are anxiously awaiting the new Sunbeam bunch which is our lightweight summer jacketing in distinctive light colours.
In all the 150 countries that I visit I have found it interesting to note that it is the lightweight cloths that sell in the north and the heavier weights in the south, the reverse of what one would expect.
Recent months has seen the launch of the H. Lesser range to the Continent, introducing their fine cloths, particularly the Lumbs Golden Bale, to the discerning tailors in Europe.
I will be visiting the Benelux countries and Paris this month and, next month, I will be going to Sweden. A longer visit to Italy is planned for June.

As the year rumbles on I thought I would just bring everyone up to speed on what's been going on here since January,I have decided to keep the blog more up-to-date, from today I will have to get more involved for this to happen!.
2012 so far has been very similar to last, which is really pretty good I think, i suspects from now it is likely to be a bit up and down as theres a lot going on in the UK.Firstly the Queens Diamond Jubilee in June followed by the football Euros and finally the Olympics in July. Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to all,but it will in no doubt have its effect on a lot of my customers and friends who are small hardworking businesses that don't need their customers to have anymore distractions .Someone mentioned to me yesterday that quite a few tailors were thinking of closing in London while the Olympics were on as the city will be absolutely packed and journeys in and out of work will be a nightmare.
Outside of London I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that we all get enough business ... I suppose the ideal scenario is we win the Euros and collect the largest number of golds at the Olympics ...and who knows...For those in London there is I'm sure a flip side that there will be millions rushing to the capital from all over the globe to spend...
If you were wondering about new collections coming out, myself and Mark have been buying and will keep any customer interested in the loop ....

Aston Martin Director of Design Marek Reichman recently commissioned Henry Poole of Savile Row to create a driving suit for an event at the Goodwood Revival.

We were delighted to offer our Porter & Harding Glenroyal, Prince of Wales check (No 44535) for the task, and we think the look is very striking.

James Dunsford was in Henry Poole of Savile Row this week, to have his final fitting, made from Lumb’s Golden Bale – we look forward to seeing a picture of the finished suit very soon.
At the same time he had the chance to catch up with Simon Cundey (Managing Director of Henry Poole) and give him the new Lumb’s Golden Bale, and Formalwear bunches.

‘We are delighted with these new bunches, especially the Lumb’s as it has always been associated with H Lesser, and helped to establish the company’s excellent reputation.
Harrisons have done such a great job, in such a short time to get H Lesser back to full health.
They have maintained and invested in the bunches, and continued the highest standards of quality for which they were so famous for, the future now looks bright, which is great news for our customers’.

On the 7th May the annual Porter and Harding Race Cup was run at the Devon & Somerset Point to Point meet. This year the trophy was presented by our former chairman, Mr Richard Dunsford.

Richard has a great love of all things equine and since his retirement has given over plenty of time and dedication to his lifelong passion.
We would like to take this opportunity in congratulating Miss J Carr (pictured below receiving the Porter and Harding Cup from Richard) who rode to victory on Miss Midnight.
Our Porter and Harding range is seen as a fine example of countryside cloth and as such can be seen adorned at many events such as the Devon & Somerset Point to Point. Worn by young and old, you can see here that Richard is sporting a classic matching cap and jacket, made with 100% cashmere.
Congratulations to all that took part in the Point to Point. We look forward to sponsoring the event next year and for many years to come!!
